Food Adventure Program with the awesome people - Cafe edition!

Adventure to Kith Cafe

Kith Cafe is definitely our first place to be explored for my Food Adventure Program with the awesome people. This is actually my compiled of reviews of the eatery places which I had never patronize before based on my experience over there. Therefore.....drum roll please.....wait, what does the drum say? Ok, don't go there please.....ANYWAY! Hui Lin recommended me to this cafe called Kith Cafe. So I thought why not for the first post of my program, I should let my adventurous thingy to try what the cafe could offer.

When we reached there, we were served by the server and shortly we got our seats in a jiffy. But, the best thing ever is that the menu is unique. Since most, I mean every, restaurant has its own typed out menu but for this cafe, however, it is handwritten. Isn't it unique?

They wrote it personally on every menu that were given out to their customers.

Service water is given upon ordering.

Since it was too early in the afternoon and I don't want to eat too heavy. So I ordered the Nutella cake. Mmm....so chocolaty. Prefect for chocolate lover. So for those chocolate lover out there, this cake is for you.  It cost $8.

For my drink. I ordered their hot chocolate with steamed milk. Well, it is not similar as those in Starbucks or Coffee Bean where their hot chocolate is sweet. This is one is abit bitter and foamy. Plus, there are too much bubbles on the foam which is not that good.

Well, for my friend, she ordered the chicken mushroom sandwich and caramel macchiato. The chicken is nice but the bread it too hard to tear it using the knife and fork. For the caramel macchiato is abit different then the normal ones. It is kinda similar as the espresso dupio drink. It is espresso shots with caramel syrup. Then topped with cocoa powder (i think if i not wrong) and a marshmallow to play around with the flavour. It's one of the kind I could say.

This is how the cafe look likes.

In conclusion, I felt that the cafe is good. With good food and conducive environment. The service is excellent. This cafe is good and  perfect for those who just ended their work and would like to have time to relax. Furthermore, gym fanatics who just went for a workout, can order their protein drinks too.

Alight at the Dhoby Ghaut Mrt station and walk to the Park Mall. The cafe is located at level 1.

It is at the left side of the mall.
Furthermore, this cafe is located near the Istana Park. So all of you guys can enjoy the wonderful beauty of the park after your scrumptious tea break.

If you are considering Kith Cafe as your one-stop coffee rush, why not have their coffee on the beautiful Kith cafe to-go cup where you can bring it to your office or back home. Or even to Istana Park. Say hi to tony tan for me please. Ask him how is his days.....Okay LAME! --__--

Isn't it beautiful? Small cup will be red, the medium is green and the large will be erm....i forgot. To know what colour is the large one, don't forget to visit Kith cafe and let your taste bud do the judgement.

Rating: ******* (7/10)
A good place to visit.

Our Server Rights!

Do I have the Server Rights?

Have you ever encounter a terrible service when you patronize a FnB outlet, retail shop or Customer relation counter and etc? What are your feelings when you don't get the things that you want or being served in a horrible manner? Angry? Frustrated?  Upset? Then here comes the customer right. For 5 years working as part-timer in the service industry, customer always feel that they are always right. They want the service to be good, the food to be served  fast, they want to have a seat, they want this and they want that. The demands are endless. I know that the customer paid the service charge and GST taxes. They should get what they deserved. However, have you ever put yourself in the service personal's shoe and think how tough it is to serve customer that are demanding as ever?

For a good example, I am currently working at Starbucks. And let me tell you, the customers there are more demanding than my previous job. Let say, if you are the customer and you would like to have a seat. You saw the table full with plastic cups and tissues. The first thing that you will do is to clear the rubbish and throw it at the bin available at the condiment bar, isn't it? But, some of the Starbucks customer will go to the counter there and ask the staff to clear the table for them. Come on, it just plastic cups. You can throw it yourself or if there are any mugs or plates on the table, you can bring it to the counter there and pass it to the staff there. Is it that difficult? There isn't any service charge added to your bill. Why must we go to the extend to stop whatever we are doing and go to your table just to clear plastic cup? It will effect the operation. There wont be anyone clearing the queue or not enough people making the drinks. Do you know that there is once I went to their table to help them clear it away since they ask me to. And do you know what? There are only 2 plastic cup. I was damn mad. Why can't you just move your ass and clear it by yourself? Instead of wasting your energy to come to the counter and ask me clear your table, why can't you carry those two cups by your own and throw it at the bin. I really can't understand this type of people.

I am not saying that you can't ask the server for help in order to make your time there comfortable. Places like Macdonald, Starbucks or Uniqlo or any other store that does not have any server to serve you the whole time you are there, do not expect them to do things for you. Yes, they should make you drinks or food, guide you along the way. But, stop demanding them to clear your shit for you. When I say shit, I mean literally those kind of shit thing that you left behind. Like when you had tried the clothes and it doesn't fit you, you don't just leave it in the changing room and expect the staff to take it for you. You should take the unwanted clothes and pass it to the counter at the entrance of the changing room and apologies for troubling them to fold it again and put it back for you. Or, if you went to the Chinese wedding dinner and the server spilled the hot tea while pouring it for you, don't you just give a grumpy face or scold them off. Because the porcelain tea pot is damn hot and thus burn your finger. How do I know? Cause it happen to me before.

As a customer, you must understand that in FnB or Retail industry, we work long hours. We are not like office workers sitting on the chair and face the computer for 8 hrs straight. No. Our server task are not like that in any particular. We are expected to stand the whole 10 -12 hrs and be in ready mode to serve people. Don't you know how tiring it is? And, we too are human beings. We tend to do mistakes. But why people keep scolding us as a server when we make a slight mistake as if we had done a something that could destroy the whole nation. From harsh words to complaint. Don't they know that we too have feelings? We will feel extremely sad when the customers don't appreciate us. Do you know that each and every complaint people send to the management about our outlet, that can destroy the career of the server. If people can claim their customer's rights. What about our server's rights.

When comparing the Singaporeans to the Western customers, I feel that the Westerners are much more friendlier and understandable. They smile every time when they are ordering even if we do mistakes. That's why i like to serve them. But, why there always a certain percentage of us are grumpy and always so picky. That is something we must change.

I hope one day, more and more Singaporean become a better customer and make the job for the server much more easier.  Try to not to be too picky. You must understand the situation of the customer. If the server serve you badly and it shouldn't be that way, then the customer rights comes in. Lastly, customers should be considerate when you patronizing a a particular place so that you make the server job easier. Try not to be too demanding. And for server, if there is customer rights, there should be server rights. Don't be weak and stand up for yourself. If you don't, it will allow an open door of opportunity for the customers to bring you down. Anyway, as a server, it is important that we should take pride and serve customer in the rightful manner. Cause, who won't be angry if you serve them in a horrible manner? Lets hope for a better society in SINGAPORE!

Polytechnic students VS. ITE and JC students

Poly VS. ITE/JC?

As you can see from my title of my post for this week, you can get the rough idea what I am gonna say this time round. Before I get started, I am not going against the government on how the education system work or neither do I gonna disgrace any group of people or individuals. This will be coming based on my views and what I observed ever since I started my tertiary education. So if there are any critics that happen to be similar to what you are facing, I hereby ensure that everything is purely coincidence. If I were to hurt any of you individuals, I apologies.

I am 100% guarantee that many of you readers are aware of how the great negative impact on our education systems are affecting our society. I know that our education is tip top the best in the world, claiming by many renowned education specialist and international University and business companies. Many are eyeing on Singapore as we produce skilled workers that bring highest level of efficiency, innovative ideas and productivity. However, the streaming policies that the government are boasting about are the one that change on how our society thinks. If you may not know what the streaming policies is, it is a system that classify the students into different categories based on their performance in their studies as well their CCA and school contributions. Like in primary school, students are classified into the mainstream and elementary stream. The majority of the students whom seem to be able to do well and cope with their studies are able to stay on the mainstream. Those who are not, will be advised to opt for the elementary stream. The main stream are basically where students will do normal PSLE and have an opportunity to go to either express stream or academic stream. For the elementary stream on the other hand, have only one choice, which is the technical stream once they enter secondary school. They will be doing special PSLE paper where it is easier than the mainstream paper. With this, it is 50%-70% confirm on how the future of the students will be. Now the government saw this dramatic impact that the system made, the MOE announced 4 years ago that they will be introducing the foundation system. This is where the students can still do their mainstream papers while their weaker subject will change to the elementary level.

However, from the introduction that I had written above, it may sound that clever students get all the best things. But that's not all the case. In tertiary education, ITE and JC students receive many benefits than the Poly students. For an example, the transportation fare. ITE and JC students pay far more cheaper than the Poly students. Poly students are paying the adult fare while they are paying the student fare. I had done my research and in recent years, petitions had been made to the government regarding the high transportation fees. However, the responses made by the government really shocked me. They said that they had funded a huge sum of money to reduce the transportation fare of the poly students. Therefore, they couldn't afford to further reduce the cost. Ladies and gentlemen, u can see here. The statement is really unacceptable. We are still paying the adult fare. The concession pass are still expensive. AND! How about the ITE and JC students? Why don't they pay for adult fare too? You can calculate that for me, i pay $52.50 for my bus concession pass while the ITE and JC students pay $27.70, a difference of $25 per monthly basis. In a year, I will be ended up paying $300 more.

Not only that, if you are to go to Ang Mo Kio or Simei ITE campus, you may be shock on how nice the building is. If it is to be compared to my school, the ITE campus can be easily mistaken as a hotel or an University. Funds that were given to the different Poly's are inefficient. Thus, each different Poly have to set aside a certain amount to upgrade the school facilities. This may take time to collect the desired amount. Making the Polytechnic fallen behind the ITE in terms of the campus facilities offered. In addition, the fees for Poly are far too expensive.

Well, you may say that Poly are mid-government school where government will only supply monetary funds to each different poly and letting the school to have their own system of operations. That is why many people may assume that the differences are acceptable and thus doing nothing about it. However, when i look upon this issues, it seems very silly to me. Well, 50%-%70 of the students between age 17-20 are in polytechnic while the rest are in JC, ITE and private institution. People pay taxes not for advancement only in the ITE and JC education, but also for the 5 various Polytechnics. This conservatism thinking of the government has to change. The government have to treat Poly, ITE an JC students equally. No matter it is a  fully or half or none government school. Come on! We pay taxes too.

Week Summary

Weekly Summary

Finally examinations are over and my holidays have officially started on 2 September, which is after my Economics paper. I could say that I did partially well for my Macroeconomics and Organisational Behaviour paper. However for my Business Accounting paper, OMG! My balls shrank. My boobs from D cup became A cup. Aeroplane landing you can say. Neh i am just kidding. Accounting paper was damn hard for me AND I LOST 20 MARKS JUST LIKE THAT! hais..... :(

Anw, its time for HOLIDAY!!!! Fun fun holiday! A wholesome 6 weeks of fun. There are many plans that my friends and I had made for this semester break. Ranging from chalet to zoo trip. Yippie!

So, after my paper, my classmates and I went to the Bedok Simpang for lunch. We supposed to go IKEA as planned but my classmates were tired plus they need to go to Chinatown. So we headed to the restaurant called Mad Jack located in the heartland of Bedok Simpang itself. To get to Bedok Simpang, you can take a train to Tanah Merah and take a bus from there. Another alternative you can have is to take bus 293 from Tampinese bus interchange. It is a fully air-conditioned restaurant PLUS IT IS HALAL! WHOOP WHOOP! The price of the food are reasonable. Pei yi and I were hesitating whether to buy the TiraMADsu (tiramisu). Apart from that, their student promotions offered there are really worthy. You can choose a main course ranging from fish and chips, spaghetti and chicken chop. It comes along with homemade Ice Lemon Tea which only cost you $6.90 nett price only!!!. You also can add a side dish for a dollar.

WHOOP WHOOP AWESOME CHICKEN CHOP. MMMmmmmm delicious!

After lunch, I bid goodbye to my classmates as they went to Chinatown to collect their air ticket. I went back to Tampinese to meet my secondary school friend, Hui Lin, for a visit to IKEA Tampinese. So went to IKEA and I ordered Chicken Wings, Meatballs and New York Cheese Cake.

YES AH!!  My craving for chicken wings and meat balls are satisfied. The funny thing is that the meatballs look artificial but the taste was like being made by hand. Anw, it was super duper licious!

Ice Cream for $0.50? Of course! It is a must for me to try!

Here are my zilian pose feeling feeling wanna be Singapore next top model. Don't judge me!! Credits to Hui Lin for the photos.

Review:  TEA TREE BLEMISH FADE NIGHT LOTION

This Tea Tree night lotion is suitable for those who had cured from excessive acne breakouts, where scars and pores are left in our skin permanently. This night lotion from Body Shop, which cost about $29.90, can last you for 3 to 4 months depending on how you use it. This lightweight soothing gel crème sinks into the skin to help improve the appearance of blemish-damaged skin and equalise oiliness and replenish moisture while you sleep.

.
I bought this last week. Ever since I wore it for three days, my scars were minimized. It gives me softer complexion and moisturized skin.

Directions: Cleanse your face with a cleanser and damp your skin with a dry towel. Apply your toner first. Let your skin absorb fully. Then, apply pimple cream on the affected area. Allow it to dry for an hour. Then apply the tea tree blemish fade night lotion.
